Please eat about one hour before your treatment, and refrain from any strenuous exercise for about one hour after your treatment.  Wear loose, comfortable clothing and please turn off your cell phone before entering the clinic.  Please allow approximately one hour for your first visit.

Treatment FAQ’s

  • Acupuncture needles are sterile, stainless steel, and hair thin.  They are nothing like needles used for injections!  Most people feel no or very minimal discomfort as the needles are gently inserted.  Many patients fall asleep or doze while receiving acupuncture.

  • Acupuncture causes no side effects. It is safe to do with any condition, diagnosis, and prescription medication.

However, if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant, please let your Practitioner know as there are certain points that are contraindicated.

  • Yes. We purchase our acupuncture needles pre-sterilized. They are used only once and then disposed of in a biohazard container.

  • If you are receiving semi-private acupuncture, you will be relaxing in a reclining comfy chair in a room with other patients, separated by bamboo screens.  Wear loose comfortable clothing, with pants or a skirt that can be pulled up beyond the knee and sleeves that can be moved beyond the elbow.

If you are receiving acupuncture in a private room, you will be on a massage table with sheets and privacy.  To access the areas of your body that will be treated, you may disrobe to your level of comfort.

  • For private treatments plan on 1.25 hours for your first visit.  For returning private patients, treatments are 1 hour.  For semi-private treatments plan on 1 hour for your first visit and 45 minutes for your return visit.  If you have time constraints on the day of your treatment, please let us know upon arrival and we will customize your treatment time.

  • Individual conditions vary and your treatment plan will be discussed with your practitioner during your initial consultation.  Treatment plans are evaluated dependent on overall health, acute or chronic conditions, and the onset of your conditions.  Most patients can feel an improvement after their first treatment; however, acupuncture is accumulative and the treatments build on each other.  Our goal is to get you feeling better as soon as possible, so we will recommend the best plan that fits your individual needs and concerns.

  • We recommend that you give yourself some restful time after your session to let the healing treatment settle in. You have moved a lot of Qi!
